The Ribbon Microphone was first invented in Germany in the early 1930's (my favorite decade) and then RCA in the US seemed to dominate building and selling ribbon mics.
I'm on a bit of an obsession with ribbon microphones because they really do have a magical sound. They are even mysterious. Low output but noise free and a true reproduction of the sound of what you are recording.
Once you tweak the recorded ribbon mic track you will see why so many rant and rave about these wonderful microphones.
