Frankenbike
Its not what you have
Frankenbike
Its what you do
From a shed
In Lafayette
Came my first bike
Frankenbike
Different parts
Different colors
Yet it worked
Frankenbike
In no time
I fell in love
With my first bike
Frankenbike
I rode it hard
I rode it fast
Went everywhere
Frankenbike
The spirit inside
Is power within
A beautiful thing
Frankenbike
A challenge at first
Then you hit stride
Loving that ride
Frankenbike
Frankenbike
Its not what you have
Frankenbike
Its what you do
I’ve been contemplating where I’ve been in my life and what the final chapter will be. Then, in the news, I see the trail of hissy fits Elon Musk has had lately – with his stupid antics. Then I thought “wow – ALL of these billionaires can’t get enough attention once they have more wealth than they could ever use in 100 lifetimes”. I mean – they are writhing with unhappiness.
So I thought back to Lafayette, NJ and how my parents lived paycheck to paycheck, and that my first bike was built out of parts from several bikes and sold to us by a nice old man whose hobby was to fix bikes. He sold these “Frankenbikes” on weekends out of an old car barn next to his country house.
And that made my day – realizing how I’ll never be a billionaire or famous in any way – but how I also won’t be as miserable. Don’t even start me on dead rock stars who overdosed or otherwise committed suicide when they were seemingly at the peak of there careers. No – I’ll gladly be a non-pedigreed nobody.
