I really like the Yoga approach where they call it a yoga “practice”.
That matches reality – the point is to do and work on getting better, with no artificial limit or time period.
For me, it matches the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs, and the concept of self actualization – a state that has no end. You are never self actualized, but could be in a state of self actualizing.
With everything we do in life, we’d do ourselves a huge favor to switch to thinking in terms of practicing. It is very clear with music, but for some reason, I hadn’t applied this thinking to losing weight – until now. I had been on a plateau since Thanksgiving, but just this week I have started losing 2 pounds again. I increased my exercise and intensity. From now on, I’ll think in terms of whatever I do a practice. Its a wonderful way to eliminate self doubt and stress.
