Modifying The Recording King Lap Steel

At $250, this is a great starters lap steel guitar. In fact, the mahogany body and paint job are stellar. The problem? The pickup sucks.

I also had to fix the input jack – it was causing an intermittant connection. The two little pots and cap are fine – the soldering job and wiring was fine.

I replaced the pickup with a Seymour Duncan Phat Cat and now this lap steel sounds even better than my beloved Gretsch lap steel.
