A Colder October

February is
A colder October
Its days grow longer
The sun grows stronger

October is
A winding down
Its nights grow longer
The moon grows stronger

Some days
Between the two
Seem alike
When riding your bike

The buckeye trees
Burst into bloom
After winters nap
The first to come back

Springs Rich Pageant

With that camera
Take some pictures
From the palm of your hand
Capture something grand

Its almost spring
The days are longer
The buds will burst
Which one will be first?

I can't wait
For the return of the bees
Spring comes alive
With the buzzing of hives

Spring is Near

Spring is near
You can feel it
In the sun and air

Soon the Groundhog Speaks
And the Dragon Dance
Happen just this week

The old buckeye trees
Bursting buds will bloom
Along our flowing creek

Soon no vacancy
In our bird houses
Happy melodies

Voodoo Lounge Singer

Within a couple of weeks we have a Buckeye tree that will start to bloom. It always happens by mid February. There are other trees that have white flowers that bloom by this same time. I’m going to try to write a song with a melody based on Spring since we are getting close to Mardi Gras, which here in Orinda is a sort of early spring.

I’m posting my “Friday Intention”. Pray for me – I’m going to try to sing! Check back later to see if it actually happens.

I woke up
On the right side of the bed
This new silly song
Dancing in my head

I'm in a great mood
Like a happy school kid
On this sunny Friday
I think I'll sing

I started out
With a melody
On the grand piano
That was the Key

I matched my voice
With this melody
Note for note
Now let's see

Like everything else
It will take time
But first tries are good
They're never a crime

The Minds Eye

The Eye has a better lens than a camera
It's fantastic
What we humans see
When our eyes are open

The Internal
Affects the External
When our eyes are open
Autumnal or Vernal

The External
Influences our brain
Bringing pleasure
Or pain

Autumn's paradox
Such color in death
Vernal is green
A baby's first breath

Images beget moods
Color the minds eye
Accentuate the positive
Or scare us deep inside

Take the moon
You'll either sing
Clair de Lune
Or songs filled with doom

You get to choose
Decide what you see
Darkness and sadness or
Light and Beauty
